Papa Del's Highgate
So I haven't ventured out of my comfort zone for some time, but last night we went somewhere new... and boy am I glad we did :)
When "tubing-it" back from work, in the pre Albert days, I would eye up this twinkling place and often said to my husband we should meet there post work, but we never did.
Now was the time (we're having our kitchen done so have been eating out way too much and both decided it was time to try somewhere new).
We went early, as we always do with a toddler, and turned up to a welcomingly, quiet Papa Del's.
The guys there greeted us warmly and we grabbed a bench at the big, wooden sleeper tables.
We both decided on food pretty quickly. The Hubbie, an Alla Griglia pizza (Augergine, red peppers, courgette and chargrilled artichoke with added chicken... he is a man after all). Myself, a yummy. but naughty, deep-fried chicken burger with avocado and sweet potato fries.
The menu has tons of options for Pizza, Burgers (with meat from Highgate butchers) and Pasta. They also had a yummy looking brekkie menu.
The walls were scattered with blackboards, with little witty notes, adverts for famous brownies and hard (aka alcoholic) or soft milkshakes and info on their meat...
... and among the blackboards, and quirky decor (framed soft, toy animal heads), was a music system, where you can select what you'd like to listen to... not that we needed to, their choice was spot on and Albert couldn't help but dance, dance, dance. Although he probably would have preferred 'hop little bunny' ...ah well, next time.
We scoffed our food - well, I did, I'm pregnant - and left with 3 chocolate chip cookies to eat today... I promise to share them (sort of).
We will DEFINITELY be back, it makes complete sense with Highgate tube opposite, the 134 and 43 running from food door to home door, and such a friendly and laid back environment.
Thanks guys. Great place and I'm so pleased we made it across after 3 years of admiring you from afar. See you again soon xx
