On one of my bus trips I spotted 'Food Room' on Archway road... a mini cafe and coffee shop. I took a look online and read great reviews. So, I decided it would be the venue for my very first coffee date, with my new little dude, Arthur.
We popped down on the bus, babe in sling (this place is little, so a pram would be awkward) and we were lucky to grab a seat tucked in the corner by the cakes... aw shucks, what a shame.
I ordered my standard Flat White and resisted the urge to eat yet more sugar based yumminess, but enjoyed watching the world go by outside, eyeing up the menu and other people's food :)
This place is sweet. It's small (I imagine it'd be a tricky venue at the weekend), but it's charming and feels like a secret little place for food and coffee.
The menu looked tasty (as did the full plates of food I rudely gorped at), offering all day 'brunch' options, with dishes like salmon + avocado and granola + fruit. But also some yummy sounding dishes that would make a perfect lunch - the one that stood out to me... sweet potato slices with smashed avocado, feta, edamame and poached egg, plus a bit of chilli!
My coffee was great and the lady who owned Food Room (with her partner) seemed lovely - apparently they are just 8 months old and already busier than they were expecting... good for them!
I got the impression people who knew about this place were firm loyalists and for locals this was a regular hangout.
A nice spot, positioned in the strip of shops by the tube, perfect for a morning coffee or relaxing with a book (and perhaps a baby - sans pram) after a stroll through the woods.
Worth popping in to see for yourself... enjoy :)
