Cornish holibobs

What luck we had in Cornwall - beautiful Spring like weather, a lovely cottage, a very happy dog and stunning beaches on our doorstep!

We struggle with holidays because of the dog. We find it hard to find nice holiday cottages that are dog friendly. We mostly head to Norfolk and stay in places through the Blakeney Cottage Company (which we always really enjoy), but we fancied a change and wanted to explore a different part of the UK.

In 2010 we stayed in a fab barn in Surrey through a company called Unique Home Stays. We used the same firm again to book our mini-moon in 2012 (a little hut on the beach - there are no words to express how much I loved that holiday).

So, we thought it was worth a look to see if they offered dog friendly stays and came across a lovely little farm cottage which ticked lots of boxes!

So we headed down to Cornwall, staying near a little village called Goonhaven.

The cottage is an old working building (I think a home for the pigs :)), reached via a very bumpy long track.

We were greeted by a lovely hamper (offered by all Unique Home Stays cottages) and a very warm welcome from the owner.

The cottage was beautifully decorated and super cosy. We settled in for the week, getting cosy in front of the log burner, after a quick drink at the lovely local pub.

Each day we went for a big walk on the beach, completing 5 different beach walks and experiencing some in quite contrasting weather.

For food we ate at the same fab local pub most days for lunch and cooked up some simple pasta dishes in the evening, curled up watching Netflix with a glass of rouge :)

Absolutely beautiful and our little man and dog loved it too.

(Definite highlight was writing off my trainers to a muddy puddle so having to wear my slippers the whole of one day... And, yes, I did wear them with socks... Bright pink ones)

But I have to say, we always love coming home - you know you have made yourself a proper home when you're happy to be back after an amazing break like this one!
