My discovery of Boyden's cafe
In a 'no sleep' induced state (and with a need to hit Tesco's), I decided to take a new route for our daily walk... Up to Friern Barnet.
I was desperate for coffee, so that became my mission... To find a little place for a double shot of energy!
I walked to the cross roads at the top of Colney Hatch Lane and took a look around. There was a small cafe but nothing that enticed me in.
So I carried on walking up to the old Mental Hospital...
...And just before turning back I saw Boyden's!.
I wondered in and ordered coffee and some porridge.
It was a sweet little place, not cosy but definitely with the 'cool coffee house' vibe.
It was pretty quiet, which I welcomed, and the coffee and food were lovely.
The menu looked great - fry ups, pancakes and burritos - and on Saturdays they have a ribs style night where you can bring your own bottle!
And best of all... They take dogs!!! I will be back at the weekend with the pooch.
One of 3 Boyden's cafes apparently - 1 in East Finchley (which I would also recommend - more of a traditional lunchtime menu and it's dog friendly) and 1 in High Barnet (I think)... I may venture up there next!
